Thank you for your interest in adopting a Rottweiler from Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego’s Rescue program. By adopting a Rottweiler though our program, not only do you get a great companion but also help prevent unnecessary euthanasia of many wonderful dogs. Sadly, most dogs that end up in animal shelters were once family pets. It’s our goal to give them a second chance and find permanent, loving homes for these special dogs.
We are an all volunteer, not for profit organization that takes in most dogs before they go into a shelter. This allows us to obtain more information about the dog’s history which helps us to match the dog with prospective owners. All dogs are fostered in homes with experienced Rottweiler owners and are evaluated for temperament and behavior while waiting for their forever home.

The Adoption Process:

If you are willing to make a lifetime commitment and provide a safe, loving home for this noble breed, we may have a dog for you! Some questions and processes may seem personally intrusive, but these dogs have been given a second chance at life and we want to make sure the adoption is successful for both humans and Rottweilers.
The first step is to make sure you understand this breed as they are not for everyone. Next, complete and submit the below application. The more information you give us the better chance we have to match the right dog with the right home. Once we have a completed application one of our rescue coordinators will contact you to schedule a home visit, discuss Rottweiler ownership and answer any questions. If all goes well, arrangements will be made to meet the dog you are interested in adopting and, hopefully, begin you new life as a Rottweiler owner.
The adoption fee is $300 for adult dogs and $350 for puppies (dogs under 1 year). However, we will refund $75 after completion of an approved obedience class and submission of a certificate of completion from the course. All dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and in good health prior to being adopted.
Although all dogs available for adoption have been examined by a vet and are in good health, we recommend you take the dog to you family vet for a health check.

If for ANY reason you are unable to keep the dog, please do not try and place the dog on your own. Southwestern Rottweiler Club of San Diego will accept the return of a dog regardless of the reason.
